Who else takes quizzes? I’m always a sucker. I take all of them. I mean ALL of them. I’m trying not to sound too pathetic here but seriously. Who creates them all anyway? (at least I’m not that guy.. or gal) Every time I take the Which Disney Princess Are You quiz I end up as Belle. Don’t get me wrong here…. I LOVE Belle. She has been my favorite for a long time. The problem is that apparently she is the only princess that reads. Or even likes books. I know that when they ask that question and I answer with ‘a love so deep it hurts’. .. in the end I will be Belle. I really don’t think any of my other answers matter after that question. I ended up wondering why Belle is the only one that reads. Then my thoughts got a little out of hand … is reading not cool? how come so many people don’t like to read. they would rather see the movie. the movies are good but never as good as the book. what am i thinking! tons of people like to read. i’m not crazy. i might want to smell my books.. am i crazy? no. i’m not crazy.. lots of people do that… ha ha ha. I know. I’m hilarious. Don’t act like you don’t like the smell of books! I will admit that when I was younger I felt weird that I liked to read. They called me a bookworm and not as a compliment. I think now I would definitely take it as one. Long rant short… don’t be mad that you are a Belle. She is awesome.
I honestly don’t know which I prefer. I get on Pinterest and see these cozy but amazingly beautiful little home libraries and I literally GLOW GREEN with envy. I can just picture myself sitting in a big, overstuffed chair next to a roaring fireplace. Not a care in the world. (oh wait.. do I still have toddlers running around in this fantasy world of mine?) You know the kinda of home library I am talking about. You walk in and have to say ‘hello’ to all of your old friends on the shelves before carefully deciding which world your going to visit for awhile. Some comforts you just can not have without have the actual physical copy of the book. The smell. The feel of the pages. A closer look at any extras the book might have… aka map of the land or sneek peeks. That cozy library. The feeling you get when you see you are almost done with the book but no where near ready for the book to end. To really appreciate the artistry that went into the cover. Bookmarks. All of these things make me love owning the physical copy. Also you if you dare, you can recommend them and lend them to friends (only friends that you trust tho, right?) I have a kindle voyager that my sweet husband surprised me with a while back. Do I love it? Yes, I do. If you are reading a fast read that you might not care to have a real copy then it is perfect. I personally love that it isn’t heavy. I don’t need a light on to read. Reading in bed is 100 times easier. I also have the kindle app on my phone which means that if I am at some appointment somewhere I can jump back and forth between the two. It saves your place and everything which is nice. You can have hundreds of books with you on the go. Easy to get new books, all you need is wifi. Wow. I thought I was going to convince you that a hard copy is the only way to go but now I might not be sure. Ha. Maybe one isn’t better than the other. If you are like me…. then you just need to have both in your life. The only reason to not buy both would be if you don’t have the room! No wonder my husband rolls his eyes when I ask to buy more books. I’m a mess! Completely out of control. Poor guy. Its a good thing he loves me. Now back to adding my next read to my Amazon cart.
First of all this is my very first book review EVER written. Obviously I have recommended books to friends and what not but I have never actually sat down and written out my thoughts. So bare with me while I try and find my groove.
I have a few Colleen Hoover novels saved that looked to be up my alley. However, IT Ends With US was a gift I received for Christmas. It was on my wish list for quite awhile and I was super surprised to receive it! I was excited to start it and dug right in. I finished this read in about 3 days. It was NOT what I was expecting.
The back cover:
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from her small town in Maine where she grew up–she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle’s complete version to relationships is disturbing.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan– her first love and a link to the past she has left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exiting new ground for her as a writer. It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
Now.. I don’t like to do spoilers. I am going to try my best not give all the good stuff away. Lily is a strong, young woman. She knows what she wants and goes for it. She moves to Boston and opens up a flower shop called LILY’S BLOOMS. She meets a best friend who happens to be Ryle’s sister. Ryle is busy and she is busy and then they stop fighting it and try to be together. Until her past catches up to her and she has to make some very hard decisions. Colleen Hoover dips into Lily’s past by bringing up these “Dear Ellen Degeneres” letters that as a teen Lily wrote. Pretty much a diary to Ellen. I thought it was clever. When you start to understand what Lily went through as a child and a teen and how it compares to what she is now facing.. you just want to cry!
Ryle is everything the back cover says. He is such a likable character. You can’t help but to fall in love with him. He is a neurosurgeon and works hard to be the best he can be. He also has some devastating secrets that unfold and leave you reeling. The way the author makes you love him even though you see the signs of what is going on is amazing. I could honestly feel like I was in Lily’s shoes and it just tore me up inside. The moment that I realized I was making up excuses for this very lovable Ryle, was the moment I realized that Colleen is an amazing writer.
This book covers new love, old love, and friendship. It uncovers secrets, heartache and abuse. I didn’t want to put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen and when I finished it it left me really thinking. I just love books like that. That change your perception on an issue. To help you understand that some choices are not that easy to make. To be the one on the outside looking in it is easier said than done. The ending was a good one. I’ll leave it at that. Colleen Hoover did a marvelous job. I honestly sat there afterwards and just.. sat there. I don’t think my brain is going to forget the message this book was meant to give. Everyone should read this book. EVERYONE*.

*Now I know I just said EVERYONE should read it. I stand by that. I just want to give some insight as to content. It is an ADULT book. There is language and sex in this novel.
Along with writing book reviews I am also going to put together a book club list. I have some ideas of where I would like to start. I thought about trying to predetermine one book per month for the whole year but have decided that it might be more fun to not know. I am someone that actually likes surprises. I like to not know until I know. HA. I have a local book club with some friends and since I am reading it for them already I decided to make it my first one for my blog! When I am done I will also write my review. Book Club book numero uno is going to be ‘The Chemist‘ by Stephanie Meyer. If you have not read it already then you should JOIN me!
I am a mom. A mom with a capital M. I love Mommy life. It is challenging but so amazing. I also like to read in the evenings to help me relax. (if the book is really good, then I’ll read all day long too) I mean, who doesn’t love a book so good that you just can NOT put that bad boy down?! I would like to invite you to join my journey, to find those really great books that end up so deep in our hearts. The kind we buy all the editions of and read over and over again. I want to start doing book reviews. I make time to read. I NEED to read. We all have to start some where. I read pretty much everything. YA to historical romance (any romance .. I mean really?) to fantasy and scifi. This is something new to me so please keep that in mind. I hope to turn this into something that I really enjoy and that you do as well!
