Goodreads Says: Eighteen-year-old Kricket Hollowell was looking for her place in the world when she discovered that the universe was bigger—and more dangerous—than she had ever dreamed. Now, whisked across space to the planet Ethar, Kricket learns that her genetic ability to see the future makes her a sought-after commodity…and the catalyst for war between her star-crossed parents’ clans. According to Alameedan prophecy, one house will rise to power and the other will be completely wiped out, and Kricket’s precognition is believed to be the weapon that will tip the scales.
A target of both the Rafe and the Alameeda houses, Kricket finds protection—and a home—in the arms of Trey, her Etharian bodyguard-turned-boyfriend. But her visions of what’s to come disturb her deeply, especially since she must discover whether the gift of foresight will allow her to rewrite the future, or if her fate is as immovable as the stars.
Continuing the Kricket story has been so amazing! I have loved this series so far! Sometimes when I start a new series or even just a novel I find that it takes me half the book just to start to like it. Before the need to finish it takes over .. you know.. that ‘I just have to know what is going to happen,’ mode that we all find ourselves in when it is so good. That has not been the case with this series. It has been a definite page turner from the beginning. I actually remember looking at the Chapter 4 and thinking, “What? I’m only 4 chapters in?!? This is soooooooo good.”
On to the good stuff. Sea of Stars starts out with war. Trey, Kricket and the Cavars make it to the Isle of Skye with a plan that Kricket will be an asset to the defense team. She will finally be able to control her own destiny. However, they don’t get to see that plan through because the head commander (I can’t remember his title) is murdered and the new leader doesn’t trust Kricket. All the details are better read on your own. She really is a bad ass. I love Kricket. Everyone wants Kricket for her power to see the future but no one ever believes her when she tries to warn them. In book 1 the Regent didn’t believe her and now in book 2 only the Cavars believe her when she says that the Alameeda are going to attack Skye. Kyon gets her out first (before they start blowing things up) but Trey is not far behind. This part of the book is all cat and mouse and VERY intense. They all barely escape Kyon and hide out. I don’t want to give everything away because that is just not my style. I want to encourage you to read it, not tell you the whole dang story! It’s hard to know how much is too much. I will say this, you get to know everyone on a whole new level. There are new characters and new information that will blow your mind. The story line is strong and interesting. The way it ended left me wanting more and more and more.
