Synopsis: After the great Plague descended, the world population was decimated…and their genetics damaged beyond repair.

The Lasters wait hopelessly for their genes to self-destruct. The Splicers pay for expensive treatments that might prolong their life. The plague-resistant True Borns are as mysterious as they are feared…

And then there’s Lucy Fox and her identical twin sister, Margot. After endless tests, no one wants to reveal what they are.

When Margot disappears, a desperate Lucy has no choice but to put her faith in the True Borns, led by the charismatic Nolan Storm and the beautiful but deadly Jared Price. As Lucy and the True Borns set out to rescue her sister, they stumble upon a vast conspiracy stretching from Dominion’s street preachers to shady Russian tycoons. But why target the Fox sisters?

As they say in Dominion, it’s in the blood.

Lasters. Splicers. True Born, or something else? This story follows twin sisters trying to figure out what they are. They know they are different but when someone kidnaps Margot it all changes. No longer can they trust the people they thought. Instead they turn to True Borns and not all is as they have been told. Everyone wants their blood, but why?

Honestly this story fell a little flat for me. It was definitely different. I just could not get into it. It was so sad to me. A world where the plague has come and destroyed everyone and everything. The only people that still live are are called Splicers and they are constantly getting treatments to keep the plague at bay. True Borns are the only ones that never get sick because their DNA has patched itself with something else to help it survive the plague and it involves animals? It makes it so they can shape shift. I guess this all went a little over my head. Kids are in the street starving. Everything is dirty and blown up. I kept picturing riots everywhere ruining shops and houses. I think after reading it to the end I kept wanting more explanation of why? More of ‘how does this get better?’

That being said I do want it to get better and I will be reading the next book to see if it does. I’m weird like that! I can not start something and not see how it ends. Book two JUST came out yesterday and hopefully it picks up some momentum. Happy Reading!
