Hello there fellow readers! I was so excited to win the ARC in a giveaway on Instagram! I truly felt lucky because I have just been waiting for it to come out and now it is! After listening to Frostblood I had to buy a physical copy because I loved it so much. Ruby is the only Fireblood  in a world full of Frostbloods that HATE  her kind. She has had no help mastering her gift since she has been repressing it in fear her whole life. She then had to learn how to control that temper and control her gift to save the kingdom from the Minax controlling the Frostblood King. With the help of Arcus and Brother Thistle she faces the challenge of her life… that is until you get a copy of Fireblood and continue her story.

Fireblood continues right were we left off in book 1. Arcus is trying to make peace in his court and his kingdom. Brother Thistle is convinced that to get rid of the Minax that is haunting Ruby and sending her visions she needs to also destroy the Fireblood throne. The problem is they don’t know any Firebloods or how to make into the Islands that are their domain. It is guarded by fierce Fireblood masters and to go against them means death. Ruby is such a little spit fire. She doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do. Her temper and stubbornness is almost legendary. Especially in the Frostblood court where all the courtiers are cold and hide their emotions. They are mean and calculating and have not kept it a secret that they absolutely hate Ruby. When Arcus tries to hold a ball to welcome foreign dignitaries to sign a peace treaty it became a blood bath. While Ruby was outside talking to the Fireblood ambassador (or whom she thought was the ambassador) they were ambushed. Kai promised her a safe journey back to the Fireblood territories and she accepted. Against Arcus’ wishes.

This story is about Ruby finding out who she is. She pushes herself and accomplishes things she never thought possible. Just making it to Sudesia is in itself a feat she never thought could happen. She deals with betrayal and has to learn diplomacy. The Quenn does not bend easily and is still being controlled by the Minax in the Fireblood throne. She has to learn more about her past and through it all she finds herself. She finds family. She finds love and friendship. She finds her home. The little love triangle that happens will be interesting to see played out in the next book. The ancient stories of Fors and Sud and their brother Eros all come into play and you find out they are not really stories but legends and Ruby is the key to it all. Ruby beats the Minax but only to find someone and something much worse. I can’t wait to see if the team can come together and do it. What is next for this story? I’m pretty sure the next book is called Nightblood and will be coming out 2018.

  1. Great review! I recently bought book 1 to start soon.

  2. […] Fireblood by Elly Blake This is book 2 in the Series. You can read my review for the first book Frostblood.   I really enjoyed continuing Ruby and Arcus’ story. As Ruby is thrown into the Fireblood homeland and court she discovers much about her people and herself. Somethings she had longed to know and others that are her worst nightmares come to life. Nightblood is the next in the series and comes out next year. YES. Read it.. or wait till the last book comes out but THEN READ IT. […]
