Synopsis:

As her first London Season looms before her, the thought of the impending social whirl fills Daphne Lancaster’s timid heart with dread. She hasn’t her sisters beauty nor their talent for conversing easily. Even her family’s enviable connections may not be enough to prevent disaster.

But Daphne’s misery turns to surprised delight when the first event of her Season brings an unexpected visitor to her door—James Tilburn, whose tender kindness stole her heart in her youth. When the handsome young gentleman expresses his desire to court her, Daphne is elated. Their feelings for each other quickly grow, and it appears that, much to Daphne s disbelief, her happily ever after is within reach.

Yet nothing is as it seems. The couple finds themselves caught in a tangled web of greed and deceit, leaving James and Daphne to determine whether they are willing to risk everything for true love.

If you are looking for a fun, easy and light read then give this one a try! I adore Sarah M. Eden’s historical romances. This book is actually book 3 in the series, but the way they are written the other two have nothing to do with the story. It involves some of the same characters but that is all. The first two books are the older sisters love stories. The older two that managed to find amazing husbands because of their beauty and outgoing personalities.

Daphne does not have the beauty or that outgoing personality.. she is very timid and soft spoken. She likes to tend her garden and dry her herbs. When it come time for her first season she does not want anything to do with it. She has zero confidence in herself.

James is a young Lord. His father is an Earl and desperate to climb the social ladder. When the Dukes daughter in law is ready for her season he wastes no time black mailing his son into courting her. Even though it started out as a lie, it has become real. Can he tell her the truth or will it break them apart?

I realize my review was more of a synopsis written by yours truly but how else do I convince you to read it? The characters are great. You realize early on that they are perfect for each other and bring out he best in each other, but with Daphne’s personality and some abandonment issues she doesn’t trust easily. When that trust is broken James has his work cut out for him to earn it back. Definitely a fun weekend romance. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I probably wont read it again but I still really loved it!

Thanks for reading!
