Alright.. you guys know me, I’m a sucker for a good romance. I love a happy ending and little saucy in between the pages. Alex and Claire’s story is such a good one! First I need to thank the author, Janna MacGregor and the girls at The Bookend Tours for sending me a copy. It is so fun to be part of an event. Keep your eye out for our posts on Instagram.

This is the first book in the Caversham Heiress series. The next book is out with the 3rd one coming out in May. I will be snagging the next two books because Janna has got me all caught up with these characters and I need to see how it all plays out!

Alex is all out for revenge on the man that destroyed his sister’s life and he will stop an nothing. After he has taken said man’s fiance for his own he realizes that he actually likes her. He doesn’t know how he could live with out her and doesn’t want to lose her.. so naturally he tells her nothing of how the manipulated everything and was using her to get back at another man. Silly Alex..

Claire is a dukes daughter who lost her parents in a terrible accident when she was young and she still has nightmares. She has been engaged 4 times and something tragic has happened to each man. The gossips of the ton have called her cursed and it doesn’t matter what she does or how far she goes the curse follows her. Alex seems to have stepped in and saved her. As she starts to lose her heart to him and face the demons of her past she find out what he has done and nothing will be the same.

I love the struggle. It’s terrible to say but I liked it. It was more realistic than the Prince or White Knight saving the damsel in distress and riding off into the sunset. Sometimes romances are really quick and there isn’t much depth to the world building or characters. Janna did a great job with this. I feel like you really got to know the characters and their struggle.

Claire had been through so much and still had fears. She was beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside. Yet she struggled with her past and with trusting Alex. Alex in turn had to also face the past, with is sister’s death. He learned to love and to fight for it and to face up to his mistakes. It was a wonderful story and I am dead serious about getting the next two. I read the synopsis and am so excited to read those particular characters stories.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Thanks for reading!
