Hello all my lovelies! I am so excited to share this review with you because .. spoiler alert! I loved it! Who here loves the Bachelor/Bachelorette/Paradise? Because I am going to attempt to use Bachelor related gifs … just for fun. I am super excited for the up coming season of Bachelor in Paradise and if you are a fan then we should definitely chat!

On to my review and why this book has been one of my favorite reads this summer. First off, let me tell you there is a previous book called, “Beauty and the Clockwork Beast.” Which is Lucy’s story and a Beauty and the Beast retelling. (If you couldn’t tell by the title) I loved that book as well. The way Nancy Campbell Allen has taken a fairy tale and put it into a Victorian Era with Steampunk and Fantasy mixed in is absolutely AMAZING.

I kid you not. It sounds like it wouldn’t work, but it totally does. Her writing sucks you in and before you know what has happened, it is the next day and you are done with the book. I legit could not put it down. The slow burn romance and chemistry between Isla and Daniel was such a good one.  I loved their banter and wit.

The struggle with trusting each other and being vulnerable along with keeping their responsibilities was quite the debacle but I loved how it all came about. The mystery and adventure was so much fun. Not only was I surprised when the author was able to add in the streampunk and paranormal/fantasy elements, I was pleasantly so. It added such a magical feel to the story. Like anything could happen and I was not disappointed!

It was a proper romance which is fun because I don’t need to warn anyone of hot, steamy scenes that will make you blush but don’t let it be said that this isn’t a hot romance. I really think it is one everyone would enjoy. Who doesn’t like fairy tales with happy ever afters?

I hope you all enjoyed my review and go find both books because they would be perfect summer reads and I really think you would love them! Thank you Sarah at Shadow Mountain Publishing for sending me a copy to review. I will leave a synopsis below and say farewell for now! Enjoy the rest of your week friends!

Synopsis:

Doctor Isla Cooper is cursed. Literally. Each night, at the stroke of midnight she falls into a death-like sleep from which she cannot be awakened for six hours. To make it worse, the curse has an expiration date—after a year, it becomes permanent. And the year is almost up.

In a desperate attempt to find Malette—the witch who cursed her—Isla blackmails her way onto Daniel Pickett’s private airship bound for the Caribbean, only to discover she’s traveling with three illegal shapeshifters and the despicable Nigel Crowe, a government official determined to hunt down and exterminate every shapeshifter in England. Isla and Daniel must work together to keep the identities of the shapeshifters hidden while coming to terms with their own hidden secrets, and their blossoming attraction to each other.

Filled with suspense, intrigue, and plenty of romance, Kiss of the Spindle is steampunk Sleeping Beauty story. It is a race against the clock as Isla and Daniel try to hunt down the elusive Malette before Isla’s death-like sleep becomes permanent.
