uglylove

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

Hello lovelies! If you have been following my blog for awhile you know that I have recently become a huge Colleen Hoover fan. I still haven’t read ALL of her books but I am slowly working on it! We were “up north” which pretty much means to the city. I live in a very rural part of Utah. There is no Walmart, or Target or book stores *gasp* anywhere near me. If I want Starbucks I have to travel 2 hours north to get it. I like the small town living and our quiet life though. Alright… now that I explained that… we were “up north” last week and I grabbed another CoHo novel.

WHAT I LIKED: I liked the characters. Tate is a nurse and going to school to finish her masters. She feels a connection like never before with her brother’s friend, Miles. Her brother, Corbin (whom I would love to read his story btw) is very protective and scares off any male threats. Miles is burdened by sadness. His past eats him alive and he is pretty much dead inside. I love how CoHo gives you piece by piece Miles’ past story. Your first impression of him isn’t that great. After awhile I just wanted Tate to find happiness somewhere else. Lol. How often do you feel a connection like that, and what will you do to keep it? The writing is always good.  I felt like there were hundreds of amazing quotes in this one. I’ll share some at the the bottom of this post.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: Don’t get me wrong, the story is good and it make you feel BUT it just wasn’t my favorite novel so far. I felt so bad for Tate. I felt so bad for whatever what going on with Miles. The whole time I’m thinking.. “Who the heck is Rachel and what did you do to her..” Usually at the end of a CoHo novel I am a) blown away b) trying to figure out how the book changed my perspective somehow c) crying because the feels got to me. This time, however, I didn’t really cry. Even though it is so freaking sad. I wasn’t blown away. I was happy with the ending but it didn’t change me. Is this weird to say? After I read Confess and It Ends With Us, I felt like I had new perspective. This one is probably my least favorite that I have read so far but it was still REALLY REALLY good.

Thanks for reading!!

My FAVORITE QUOTES:

“Love isn’t always pretty. Sometimes you spend all your time hoping it’ll eventually be something different. Something better. Then, before you know it, you’re back to square one, and you lost your heart somewhere along the way.”

“God gives us the ugliness so we don’t take the beautiful things in life for granted.”

“Ugly love becomes you. Consumes you. Makes you hate it all. Makes you realize that all the beautiful parts aren’t even worth it. Without the beautiful, you’ll never risk feeling the ugly. So you give it all up. You give it all up. You never want love again, no matter what kind it is, because no type of love will ever be worth living through the ugly love again.”

“But the second she opened her eyes and looked at me, I knew. She was either going to be the death of me . . . or she was going to be the one who finally brought me back to life.”

“Listen, Tate. I want your mess. I want your clothes on my bedroom floor. I want your toothbrush in my bathroom. I want your shoes in my closet. I want your mediocre leftovers in my fridge.”

“She’s absolutely beautiful. Her hope is beautiful. The smile on her face is beautiful. The tears streaming down her cheeks are beautiful.

Her
love
is
beautiful.”
