Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco

In this New York Times bestselling sequel to Kerri Maniscalco’s haunting #1 debut Stalking Jack the Ripper, bizarre murders are discovered in the castle of Prince Vlad the Impaler, otherwise known as Dracula. Could it be a copycat killer…or has the depraved prince been brought back to life?

Following the grief and horror of her discovery of Jack the Ripper’s true identity, Audrey Rose Wadsworth has no choice but to flee London and its memories. Together with the arrogant yet charming Thomas Cresswell, she journeys to the dark heart of Romania, home to one of Europe’s best schools of forensic medicine…and to another notorious killer, Vlad the Impaler, whose thirst for blood became legend.

But her life’s dream is soon tainted by blood-soaked discoveries in the halls of the school’s forbidding castle, and Audrey Rose is compelled to investigate the strangely familiar murders. What she finds brings all her terrifying fears to life once again.

“The world is vicious.’

Thomas brushed a lock of hair back from my face, his gaze thoughtful. ‘The world is neither kind nor is it cruel. It simply exists. We have the ability to view it however we choose.”

This is book 2 in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. If you are new to my blog then let me tell you takes my review from a 4 star review to 5 stars.  I ask myself, “Would I read it again?” and “Would I recommend it to pretty much everyone?” If the answer is yes then I give it 5 stars. There are plenty of books that I  will read once but never care to give it a reread. If I loved it enough to reread it then it must have been a good one!

Hunting Prince Dracula was definitely a good one. I have started a few books that couldn’t hold my interest lately. I end up putting them down and starting something new or even turning on the TV. (I know.) I have caught up on Outlander and Poldark. I decided I need to read this sequel and kept at it until I was past the point of no return and no sleep. I couldn’t put this one down. Most murder mysteries keep me up for entirely different reasons! It was the perfect amount of gore and darkness to fit in with the story. Audrey Rose is my type of girl. She like girly things but then can put them aside in the name of science and justice. I love that she runs the show and Thomas is her partner in all things. Crime or no. The banter between them is humorous and heart warming.

If you are in the need of a romantic comedy/ murder mystery then give this one a chance! I think you will really enjoy it! I would even classify this as a Holiday read as it takes place through the month of December!

Thanks for reading!

“For there are no limits to the stars, their numbers infinite. Which is precisely why I measure my love for you by the stars. An amount too boundless to count.”

“Catch me if I fall, all right?”
A smile curved his lips in a most delightful manner. “I’ve already fallen hard, Wadsworth. Perhaps you should have warned me sooner.”

“I adore her in every possible way. Have you ever looked upon someone and felt a spark within your core? She makes me want to accomplish grand things. That’s the beauty of love, though, isn’t it? It brings out the very best within yourself.”

“It’s just… sometimes when I’m afraid or lost, I try to find the humor. Break the tension. It always helps me to laugh.”
