Hello! Today ended up being a gloomy day with a little bit a snow through out and I have been curled up by my fireplace. When the weather is like this it makes it hard to want to leave my house or do anything at all! I received this ARC and maybe had too high of expectations. I read the synopsis and heard others saying it had an Outlander vibe. Which it totally does. Lets just make this one simple and I’ll do a what I LOVE vs what I HATE.
What I LOVED: I loved the time period. I feel like the political uproar with England and Scotland is fascinating. I’m a sucker for Highlander stories. I NEED to visit Scotland. I loved the roles of the characters. The characters themselves were intriguing as well. The little old lady was a crack up and I really enjoyed her part in the story.
What I HATED: Hate is a strong word… and I don’t think I hated anything. My problem with this book was that I was bored. Which is hard for me to admit because there was plenty of things happening. Isabella is running from the British. She is a female doctor. Cinaed is also on the wrong side of the law. There is fighting and scandal and mystery. I just wasn’t into it. Like I said, I might have just had to high of hopes for this one. I didn’t get sucked in to it and found myself reading other books in between.
