A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. Do you like the mystery/thriller genere? Obviously I don’t read too much of it. I am a romance reader through and through. I just love love. Ya know? Which is why book club is good for me. It helps me to read other things that I wouldn’t normally pick. The Silent Patient was not what I was expecting! It was a pretty quick read. I was surprised at the end. I feel like I must be losing my touch. I feel that usually I am pretty good at guessing the endings but lately that has not been the case. It is kinda fun to be surprised!

I liked the way the writer did it. I am NOT going to say more because it is a murder mystery! The whole thing from start to finish was good. . I felt like there wasn’t too much ‘extra’ thrown in that was irrelevant. I liked that as I was reading I felt it build up to the dramatic ending. Reading the synopsis seems so bland to what it actually ends up to be. I feel like this is one of those books that you don’t realize its good until you are done and still thinking about it 2 days later. When you are still trying to wrap your head around it. I recommend it.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I love this review! You make me want to read the book, even though it is totally outside my usual genres as well (fantasy/sci fi, romance, literary fiction). I’m intrigued… 🙂
