Hey all my lovlies! I have been hit and miss with reading lately. Either I have time and read through a few books or I’m not reading ANY. I know. It’s so sad. Nerd problems am I right? I thought I would just catch you all up with a quick recommendation of read it or don’t! Pretty self explanatory but I’ll give a quick synopsis of the book and what I liked and didn’t like about it. Some of them I might strongly recommend while others are more 3 star, blah type reads. You know the ones, they were good buy not super memorable. Alright! Here we go, the last 10 books I have read:

In 1872, New Orleans is a city ruled by the dead. But to seventeen-year-old Celine Rousseau, New Orleans provides her a refuge after she’s forced to flee her life as a dressmaker in Paris. At once a sultry romance and a thrilling murder mystery, master storyteller Renée Ahdieh embarks on her most potent fantasy series yet.

**I saw this book forever ago. I’m not sure who posted the ARC but it immediately made my list of “I NEED.” I loved the Twilight series and this is NOT that, but gave me the same feels. This is only the first book in the series tho, so be warned! I loved it and totally recommend it to anyone that is okay with waiting for the next book. I’ll also be here waiting.. so if you read it and want to chat.. . come find me! **

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him..

**We read this book as part of my hometown book club and OMG. If murder mystery is your thing that you will love this book. I was so surprised. It was a quick read and I enjoyed it. READ IT. **

Aurora Pavan comes from one of the oldest Stormling families in existence. Long ago, the ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven, and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable of repelling the world’s deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora’s been groomed to be the perfect queen. She’s intelligent and brave and honorable. But she’s yet to show any trace of the magic she’ll need to protect her people.

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there’s a third option for her future besides ruin or marriage.

**I really loved this YA Fantasy. The second book is out and I have it but sadly haven’t made time for it yet. It took me a minute to get into it, I felt like it was a little slow but I liked it. I’m looking forward to reading the next one! 3 star read. **

Lady Avalon Warwyck never did love her husband. Arrogant, selfish, and cruel, it’s a blessing when she’s widowed and left to raise her son all by herself. Finally, Avalon can live freely and do the work she loves: helping fallen women become businesswomen. She’s lived these past ten years with no desire to remarry―that is, until Mr. Devan Farris comes to town.

**This one is a typical enemies to lovers historical romance. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope. Sometimes the predictability gets tiresome but I have adored The Caversham Heiresses series. This is sixth and last book of the series. Janna has written the characters so well. You can’t help but to love them and their stories. READ THEM!!!**

Irene Steele’s idyllic life-house, husband, family-is shattered when she is woken up by a late-night phone call. Her beloved husband has been found dead, but before Irene can process this tragic news, she must confront the perplexing details of her husband’s death. He was found on St. John island, a tropical paradise far removed from their suburban life. Leaving the cold winter behind, Irene flies down to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of St. John only to make another shocking discovery: her husband had a secret second family. As Irene investigates the mysterious circumstances of her husband’s death, she is plunged into a web of intrigue and deceit belied by the pristine white sand beaches of St. John’s.

**This book made me roll my eyes after every chapter but still managed to hook me. I have the next book coming in my Book of the Month Club box this month because I need the conclusion to this story. It’s not a 5 star read for me because I wouldn’t read it again BUT it was good in a ‘I need to know what happens’ kind of way. READ IT.**

England, 1879. Annabelle Archer, the brilliant but destitute daughter of a country vicar, has earned herself a place among the first cohort of female students at the renowned University of Oxford. In return for her scholarship, she must support the rising women’s suffrage movement. Her charge: recruit men of influence to champion their cause. Her target: Sebastian Devereux, the cold and calculating Duke of Montgomery who steers Britain’s politics at the Queen’s command. Her challenge: not to give in to the powerful attraction she can’t deny for the man who opposes everything she stands for.

**This book was a fun read. It was different as far as our heroine is a total feminist! The characters were real and flawed and made mistakes but I enjoyed how it all played out. Love is love and that in itself can be a very freeing thing. This book is all about freedoms and turning the aristocracy on its head. I ended up really enjoying it! The cover looks more contemporary but it is totally an ADULT historical romance. READ IT!**

Cody Ford is a Wall Street honcho with humble Texas roots. This holiday season, he’d be content to just stay in New York and not face his family―and dodge their questions about when and with whom he plans to settle down. . .and if he will do so back at home. But his father isn’t getting any younger, and Cody doesn’t want to miss any last chances to see him and the rest of the folks back on the ranch. The last person Cody was expecting to see? His one-time girlfriend, Lexi Murphy, who’s been working as his dad’s new live-in nurse.

Lexi still holds a grudge against Cody. Back then, the college-bound heartthrob believed he was too good for a small-town girl like Lexi. But now Cody can’t help but see her in a whole new light. Could it be that this beautiful single mother with an unbeatable can-do spirit is the one he’s been waiting for all along? That depends on whether Cody can prove to Lexi that, this time, he means business―and if a sudden snowstorm can lend just the right amount of Christmas magic to help move things along.

**I snagged a few Christmas-y books off of Netgalley just help me get in the Christmas Spirit this year. I really enjoyed this contemporary cowboy romance. It’s all about your roots, and family. Truly a heart warming romance that would be great to read this time of year! 3 stars for me but it was good. If you are looking for a Christmas Romance then READ IT!!**

Brighton, England 1820

For Amelia Moore, love is impractical. But when her dying stepfather offers one last opportunity for her to save herself and her sister from destitution, Amelia can no longer be timid in matchmaking. With an invitation to the house party of her sister’s suitor, Amelia vows to secure the match. Nothing comes before the happiness of her sister.

** This is an ARC and will be out soon! I adored it more than I thought I would. I’m more of a steamy romance reader than the proper romance type BUT I do enjoy a good proper romance story. This one is about duty and loyalty to ones family… and turns into being loyal to your own heart. The banter between the two is hilarious and I melted watching him try and get back in her good graces. READ IT!**

Heartbreakingly beautiful and devastatingly annoying, Timaeus Lambros, a deaf, former military translator, has just been assigned as my co-teacher for the rest of the school year.
His stupid-hot face gets on my nerves.
So does his well-fitting jeans.
Charming and gorgeous men like him should not be teachers. They should be locked away in a storage closet… with me.
But that’s just a teachers’ lounge fantasy with a big dreamy sigh attached.
Tim and I can never be a thing. He’s broody and closed off, while I’m the new owner of a one-way ticket back to Costa Rica, thanks to budget cuts.
But my Abuelita always said life wasn’t a fairytale.

**Okay. This is the type of romance that is so HOT you wont be able to put it down. This is book number four in the Commander in Briefs series. I am going to do you a favor and just tell you to start at the beginning and READ THEM ALL. This series is basically about how a woman starts a home for homeless vets. To help them will any of the issues they might have after coming back. Specifically each book is about some very sexy marines with dark pasts and their own problems and how a woman can heal them and give them happiness again. I have loved these books and greedily stay up all night reading them. READ IT. Very ADULT tho and has quite a bit of language. **

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

** This is the third book in the Fold of Air Trilogy by Holly Black. I adored this series and counted down the days till its release. I read them quick and right when I finished this one I grabbed Cruel Prince and started the series over. It is about Faerie and is a tale about the horrifically but beautiful land with faerie creatures, both horrific and beautiful. Jude is a human growing up and her very survival depends on her being able to navigate the delicate politics of Faerie.I loved the darkness in this series. .. and the love story. READ IT!**
