One Day in December by Josie Silver

Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away.

Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness

Hello all my lovelies!! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday and a very happy start to the New Year. I sure did. We had lots of time spent with my husbands family as well as mine and then to just have the kids home for the break was wonderful. I pretty much stayed off of all things social media and now I feel recharged and ready to tackle some of my goals for this year. I normally read 1 to 2 books a week and realized that I should be able to review at least one book a week for my blog! WHAAAAT? I don’t know why I didn’t put that together before but I feel like it is very doable for me! After I look at my stats on WP I will decide which day is best to post for you all but hopfully I will have a new post weekly for you! (YAYEAH!)

Here is my review for One Day in December:

I liked that it was slower and hated it at the same time. I tend to roll my eyes at the cheesy girl sees boy and boy sees girl and BAM! Happily ever after. I love happy endings but lately it has been so predictable and I have been annoyed. However, this one is girl sees boy from a bus and boy is outside looking at girl on bus and then the bus LEAVES. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but this book was NOT predictable. The things that I thought were going to be… weren’t. You guys know I hate spoilers. I don’t want to ruin it so lets just say that this story is about sisterhood, friendship, family and love. With life, heartache and loss twisting everything every way but the way you want it to go. When the title said One Day in December I wasn’t expecting it to span a decade of Decembers. It truly was a charming story and I read the 400 something pages quickly. It is still a good read even if December is over.

If I loved this book and thought it charming then why did I only give it 3.5 stars? Honestly, I am trying to be a little more reserved with my 4 and 5 star rating. I only want to give 5 stars if I ABSOLUTELY loved it and would buy it and read it again and again. 4 stars are for those I loved but wouldn’t necessarily read again and again but I would buy. 3 stars are for good ones but maybe buy the ebook and not a hard copy. LOL.

Thank you all for reading! You can always contact me if you want recommendations! I love helping you find something to read.

xoxo,
